Im new and ill post a "Hello thread" shortly but Im in work and short on time.
I picked up a 1997 volvo 440 2.0 glt on friday and im very happy with it. Got the usual probs of the info centre, rev counter (ive got a loose negative battery clamp that has cracked so thats probably why!)and the heater matrix but my current one for concern is the alarm/imobilser LED is flashing constantly while driving. I assume its the 4 times per second thing where there a fault somewhere. Ive checked all the fuses and everything seems to be fine with them all. The only thing I can think is that the person whom I bought the car of recently replaced the battery and I think this may have caused the error.
Is there a way to sort alarm out like resetting it?
I have remote central locking and it works ok. Ive not triggered the alarm siren but all the doors lock.
Any help or suggestions are welcome.

I've no idea bout the alarm, but changing the car battery wouldn't cause it, and nor would a cracked terminal cause the infocentre or rev counter malfunction - both those are common faults on the 480 and 440 and a search will give you an idea of possible causes.
IF you have the remote alarm its different to the one most of us have i think.

Tried to link this to the VOC thread, but still not allowed to use urls. This was posted up as someone had the same fault with the LED.
Try this for resetting
Courtesy of Jefft VOC:
If the alarm works of the remote control which also works door locks
you could try re-programming it.
programming.
Access underbonnet daignostic unit.
Insert selector cable into socket 1.
lock and unlock vehicle using remote control.
switch ignition on .
press test button 4 times.
check LED illuminates.
program remote control as follows.
press test button 3 times.
check LED illuminates .
press test button 4 times.
check LED illuminates.
press test button 4 times.
check LED illuminates.
press unlock button on remote control.
if a second remote is to be programmed , do the same again but increase
final sequence by 1.
Might work
Also try setting the alarm off, to check it's working, there have been reports that it's the alarm that is sending the code through the light and not the immobiliser. Some have the light disconnected, although the Immobilser works fine.
