Aux water pump

Hi guys,
I know this topic has been covered before, but i need to ask.
My aux water pump has stopped working on my 440 turbo. I am about to sell the car but i need to make a couple of 150 mile journeys this coming weekend.
Is the car ok to drive for this kinda distance? Is the aux water pump an essential item that i should replace or will it be fine to leave it as it is?
I am aware that if i do leave it not working, i will have to let the engine idle for a while after a long run.
Your advice is appreciated,
Ed
