Hi

Im having problems with my girlfriends 440 the remote locking has stopped working. When you press the remote the lights flash and the interior light comes on but it does not unlock the doors even when you use the key or the locking button inside. ive found the drivers door sensor is faulty there is no 12v on it like the others but the wiring disappears under the carpet looked at the remote module and the relay is clicking correctly. Any ideas greatfully received

I remember having similar happen to my old 440. If i remember rightly, for some reason the metal wire that connected to the door pin had just decided to bend, for no reason. I had to make a new one out of an old bike spoke-but i made it about 5mm shorter so there wasn't as much travel.

I don't think it was anything electrical that caused the problem, and after that it worked fine. How helpful was that?

Any one got any ideas as the key has now snapped in the door lock . So need to get it sorted asap.

Pair of tweezers to get the key out

To far in for tweezers ended up dismantling the lock and barrel to remove it but still no progress on the remote locking

I've had the problem where the lights flash and there's a click but the doors do not open with the remote, that I think was because of low battery power. If it's not working with the key either, then it must be something else. If you hear the click when you turn the key, and the lights still flash as normal, then it could well be a wiring issue, like a dodgy connection (perhaps an earth). Never looked at the central looking so don't know exactly how it works, but there will be a relay with wires going to and from it - if you haven't already, I'd check all those. I doubt very much all four motors would have gone just like that. There is likely to be a fuse for the motors - have you checked that? Sorry can't be of more help

I'm afraid I have no idea where the relay is - is there not a relay box under the bonnet? I can't remember now. I will ask my Volvo-mechanic when I see him next, see if he remembers!
