Could someone here tell me, if you import a car from Japan to the UK, is there anything that has to be done for it to get into the "system"

Just I never had any problems importing UK cars to france, but I have a feeling there could be a problem if the car is from out of the EU in the 1st place...

Ta muchly

Ok, just, I'm thinking of buying a car in the UK that has been imported, not doing it myself...so the question really was : does an imported car need to meet EU standards in the UK ? Or is it another case of you can make anything road legal in the UK and it won't be anywhere else in Europe ?

As far as I know once the car has been altered to meet the rules and regs of this country then it is fine. You just have to make sure for example that it has had the headlights changed so that they are for driving on the left. Once been through mot and so forth you should be ok to drive anywhere under the same conditions that you currently drive abroad. :D
have fun!!
 What are you importing??? :?

Please check the DVLA or SVA regulations which parts you should modify. Luckily the UK isn't too hard to get a vehicle road legal.
