440 engines

The Volvo you want to know something about isn't a 480, but you can't find the answer to your question anywhere... Well, what the heck, have a try here in this corner of Volvos friendliest community...

440 engines

Post by Big Brother » Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:12 pm

Just wandering if the 440 engines ( 1.8 ) have the same robustness as the 480? I’m looking at a 440 which is on 140,000 miles just wandering if the engine would still be good.

Cheers

With the price of 400's you could get lower miles for cheap anyway.

This one runs on LPG, its only 36p a litre here, and the car is only in the next town so not crossing the country for it

My uncle is an LPG specialist here is his business website http://www.warrington-autogas.co.uk/

He has said he will give the LPG system a service for nowt. The car needs a spare tyre and an exhaust to pass an MOT both of which can be taken from my current 440

1.8 engine is very slow though...Only 90BHP! Oh and for the MOT just take the spare tyre out. If it doesnt have one they don't test it. It's only when there is one fitted that it comes into the test!
