Headlight change V40.

Post by default_user » Sat Dec 02, 2006 12:27 pm

Had a dodgy headlight on the V40 for a while and finally got around to buying a new one last week. Just been trying to remove the old one and it looks like I'm going to have to remove the entire bumper first. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or is there a trick to it?

As far as im aware ull have 2 take the bumper off. Its just 4 14mm bolts ull have 2 get from underneath (Im prity posotive they are 14mm). Just remove the drip tray - a few 10mm bolts and some plastic poppy thingy-ma-bobs and u should be able 2 c the 4 14mm which hold the bumper on2 the car. Then just a quick pull and bobs ur uncle. They should b xactly the same as the S40, and i pulled 1 off the other day.

Appologies if im wrong tho :?

Didn't bother today

Post by default_user » Sat Dec 02, 2006 8:59 pm

I didn't bother today as the weather turned crap and I have to do my maintenance on the roadside. I'll have another go when I get the time and conditions. Thanks for the info Loki.

WAIT!

hope im not to late

but u dont take of the bumper

just remove the 4 fixing screws & pull the top lip of the bumper with 1 hand whilst extracing the headlight with the other. So basicaly just flex the bumper out of the way....

pretty easy really

Flexing the bumper.

Post by default_user » Sun Dec 10, 2006 8:14 pm

I tried that but there was no give at all. The bumper seems to be pretty thick plastic and it's moulded to fit around the bottom of the headlight. I still haven't got around to doing it yet but I've got some time off work now and will have access to a garage for a week or so. It will be done soon..
