440 TD Servicing

Post by Big Brother » Fri Sep 22, 2006 8:07 pm

The 440 is due a service before winter but I haven’t serviced a diesel before, do I have to change the fuel filter? If so where is it located?

Cheers

only replace the glowplugs when needed..

glowplugs are expensive, only replace them if the car doesn't start easy when cold.
If replacing is needed, replace all four of them, they will last longer. (same goes for lamps)

If you don't know when the fuelfilter has been changed for the last time, change it to be sure. You could check the fuelfilter by placing a seethrough line filter.

Cheers guys. Will get the oil and fuel filter done, the glow plugs look ok. Do diesels use a completely different type/grade of oil?
