440 Question
In the 480 when you leave the lights on and open the door (engine off) it beeps at you to let you know you’ve left the lights on. The 440 doesn’t do this, is it supposed to?

Not so much an elegant beep, more a rather nasty ear-offending buzz. Mine always worked, so i have no clue as to why it wouldn't... Isn't it a CEM controlled thing or is it a buzzer in the relay?

I didn't think that 440's had a CEM like 480's had? It could be just a cheap little buzzer that's wired into the lights and the door switch, like my mum's Nissan Micra has - that makes an awful noise, if it works (which is rare!).

Forgot about this thread. Cheers for the info, It seems mine doesn’t have the buzzer thing but I know what you are talking about as the Micra I owned for a very short time had just the same thing. Its just a pain in the arse because I keep forgetting to turn my lights off when I get to work early in then morning.
Is there anyway to have one put in?
Cheers

I'd get a piezo buzzer from Maplin (£1.99). I'd have to admit I'd cheat and use a small relay. Take the signal from either the door or the interior light, and connect that to the signal line on the relay. I'd also take the 12 volt from the lights, so that when they are left on, the buzzer has power. Connect the output signal of the relay to the red (12v) line on the buzzer, and ground the black wire of the buzzer. Job done.
Currently on Volvo 440 number 4, and after scrapping my first 480, I will get another one when space/money allows it.
