Volvo front dampers........made by Ford?

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Volvo front dampers........made by Ford?

Post by robin_xr4i » Wed Feb 22, 2006 11:42 am

I ordered some (nos) front dampers off e-bay a company called north west volvo trading (or something like that).

I dampers have arrived, but they are made by ford!!! e-mailed the company back and they said it was not a mistake they are for the 400 series models and they are made by ford! they share a common componants :scared:

I mean honestly and Swedish car, built by the Dutch, with a french engine and ford dampers MADNESS

Image How did I know that would be your reply.

If the 480 shares parts with a mass producer like Ford the surely this is a good thing as prices for parts will be pretty low.

What some bright spark needs to do is work out/find out what kind of Ford the part is shared with- theres bound to be better choice for uprated dampers for whatever it turns out to be!
So it's a good thing on the whole.

And when Murf and Roo find out, they'll probably think it's a great thing! ;)

Only kidding dude! Guy who lives behind me has a ford escort mexico in cream/black stripe colour! Looks pretty cool - it is currently undergoing a full engine re-build and ...it has NOrust whatsoever! Bit basic though...not an info-centre in sight!

doesnt need them, old skool cool!
a warning light to tell you when your back end is about to overtake you would be handy though :?

I agree with Roo and VDG, whats the part numbers so we can find what car they came off and maybe use that as a basis for uprated parts.
Maybe check that they fit first though ;)

Oh, and just for the benefit of volvobb, every time you diss Ford i'm going to post a pic of a groundbreaking Ford for you, one day you will learn :)

To kick us off, heres a Sierra RS500 touring car. Check out the exhaust exiting just below the front door, beautiful! :)
