Some little B*****D broke my headlight

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Some little B*****D broke my headlight

Post by robin_xr4i » Fri Nov 18, 2005 8:55 am

I went to the local leisure centre and parked my car in a residental road (nice area, lots of old people) foolishly I left my lights up, came out about an hour later to find that the drives side light had been broken off its hinges.

Call me paranoid but they dont just break for no reason........Do they?

I don't want to rub salt in your wound but there was once an artical in the volvo owner club mag where a bloke had the same thing done to his 480. The only problem was the £500 it cost him as it had buggered everything including the motor

The motor is fine, so when i turn the lights on the n/s one pops up and the o/s one kind of rises up and points toward the ground

After loosing my tempter with the headlight on my S I manually put it down, not the right way. All I did was go to the scrap yard and get the plastic hinge bits for a 480 there. I replaced the motor after and the headlight worked fine

Know how you feel buddy, sorry to hear it all the same.

Why can't these little F*ers just piss off to a little island where they can all spend thier lives pissing each other off and not everyone else. Be nice if the Police gave a s* or did something about it. It's only petty vandalism if the consequences to society are petty, which given the scale of the problem they no longer are.

Came out yesterday to swop the front clusters over between my cars and discovered the glass completely gone from my ES's n/s long range driving lamp! :badmood: No broken bits of glass in evidence so begs the question , what happened?!! Can't believe it simply fell out, think it may have been assisted? :?

Vandalism?
The seals have gone on the long range lights on all my cars, it'd be very easy to pull the glass off them... why anyone would be pulling at you lights is beyond me.

Damn! They're on to us Sally, we'd better be more careful at the five fingered parts counter.... ;-)

Seriously though, not impossible that it just fell out. I had to do the seals on mine when I got the car and the glass just popped off in my hand.

Gotta go with Ally on this one. Came back to the car in a car park to find the long range lens lying on the deck. I thought I'd heard something when I shut the door on the way out, but I'm fairly used to odd noises from the 480 by now!

Ah well, perhaps you're rght....i did think it surprising someone would have half inched it! Wish it had come out somewhere when i could have found it and re-attached it though!! Could swop one from the other car as might treat the Turb to a brand new set :D
