Heater Matrix

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Heater Matrix

Post by Bigbird » Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:35 am

Can anyone let me know how to get to this part of the Volovo 480 Turbo. Mine has broken and has leaked water into the passenger & driver footwells. A mechanic has routed the pies back through the engine so I'm only getting cold air blasts, not great for this time of year.

Is it a case of getting the dash off to locate the heater matrix, or can it be accessed much easier.

Thanks in advance.

T^hanks for the info, it does help. Looks as though it's a dash off job then :( now all I need to find is a mechanic to do the job.

When I removed it from the spares car.

I thought It was held in by some belts (matrix inside a cover?) bit of a pig but it came out and I did not remove any of the dash.

No need to remove the dash - just the centre console - its not that bad a job - one thing to watch is when you put it back together make sure the matrix is seated properly in the housing - i didn't and almost wrecked the new one -
