Expensive parts

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Expensive parts

Post by sakis480 » Wed Jun 15, 2005 11:08 am

Today was a bad day, since I had to buy the following:
1. The rear mount, not thr omega one, but the one with the liquid thing inside....185 euro
2. oil filter 25 euro
3. plugs 25 euro
4. fuel filter 20 euro
All are volvo parts

255 total.........is that expensive or not!!!!!!!! Please someone tell me the prices in the UK and Holland!!!!!

ps1. I was wondering if the site admins can setup an inventory, or something like that, so as the people who do leave in remote places can have a refference of the parts prices......

I just blew nearly £200 on (one!) wishbone and some front light clusters.
That was trade price too!

I bought the rear hydro-elastic mount and the side damper last week.

£100 for the rear mount and £49.20 for the damper (both +VAT)

That puts the respray back another few months...

Hi Ally!
it was good to meet you today! :D ........at last another 480 owner in these 'ere parts......though I must say it feels a little weird having my reputation preceed me!
After her service at Murrays I had to gag my credit card to stop it screaming in pain all the way home.
They seem to have been all over it with a fine toothcomb - nothing serious, and nothing extra needing done, but a couple of things that might get bad enough to fail the MOT next March..............including needing new brake pipes......aaaaaaaarrrggg................I've still got my original ones........

just get them done at the rate of one item a month, that kinda splits up the cost before it needs an mot, also find a good local garage to do the work instead of volvo!
volvo wanted £60 per hour just to put my dads 440T on the diagnostic machine to check the abs!
the garage i use is only £25 PH and the guy (whos name is actually guy!!) is absolutely 1st class!!
what i usually do is put my car in to get checked a month before mot then Guy gives me a list of problems and i take it back to fix whatever it needs and submit it for the test when its ready :D
