Any suggestions?

Do any of you use your 480 as a secondary or leisure vehicle? My insurance provider doesn't recognize my no-claims bonus for a second car, leaving me uncertain about the best course of action—opting for a multi-car policy, which doesn't seem very cost-effective, or getting a new policy and establishing a new no-claims record, which might be more beneficial in the long run. Any suggestions?

Stick it on a classic car policy. You won't get a no-claims build up but my experience is that it is so much cheaper it doesn't matter. I'm with Peter Best. Footman James prior to that but for some reason they got pricey. I'm not a fan of Carole Nash.

My policy also allows to drive it to work, which was handy as two December's in a row now the 480 has been the only working car!

I ran into the same problem. The no claims entitlement does not apply to the person as such, so can only be used once - on one policy. Depending on what cars you have, you might find it better to move your most expensive car to the policy with most no claims. I am currently running three separate car policies - one 'normal' car, one classic (480) and one kitcar. You would never get those on a multicar policy - good thing I don't still have a motorbike!

An accumulated NCB can only rest on one policy at a time, Only time I've ever transferred an NCB was from a Rep of Ireland policy to a UK policy and that was due to the fact the company operated in both countries. I don't have my 480 on a classic policy (this allows the accumulation of a second policy), however it is limited milage and that brought the cost down quite a bit, a car with a higher valuation will also bring down the cost of a policy.

I have never found a Multi-Car policy competitive enough to insure a group of multi-purpose, old & new, vehicles.

They say "10% multi-car discount" but in reality, if you shop round for each car it can save you a stack. I guess it's a balance of less faff vs. money saved when choosing multi-car.

Each vehicle I insure separately - including bikes. This means I have separate no-claims accumulated on each vehicle that I use independently of each other.

Saying that, many classic car policies don't recognise a discount via an NCB anyway.

The 480 will be surprisingly cheap on a dedicated classic car policy and the the lack of an NCB will be soon forgotten.

If it helps as guidance, a classic policy with no agreed value (it'll have that when it's ready but it's not there yet) through Lancaster Insurance for my 460 costs me about £80pa. Just social and domestic but having no NCB on that as a second policy is neither here nor there.

My 480GT is insured through Chris Knott Insurance brokers with Highway (the classic/specialist car limb of LV) with an agreed value of £5000 and agreed mileage of 5000 miles pa, fully comp including 90 days in Europe, social and domestic only (plus shows etc), no NCB, for around £110.

The 440 and V50 are both used for work commuting so insured as "mainstream vehicles" on a multi-car policy with LV. That's good value for what it covers, but it wouldn't be so if I included either of the "pure hobby" cars...

I have the SS1 on an historic policy which allowed me to travel to and from work, but NOT business, BUT they do say 'need access to another car'

I tried the 480 on similar policy (in wifes name) but as my better half works at DIFFERENT locations then they wouldn't accept that

so the 480 is on 'normal' policy which costs about £150, maximum NCB, both of us are >50 with 'clean licence'. . . .

I have mine on a limited mileage (6k per year) classic policy with social, domestic and pleasure as well as commuting to and from work. It's garaged on an evening. It's only about £160 per year with Adrian Flux.
