Hello everyone, the window winder has finally disintegrated on my 95 Celeb and has failed the mot, I'm being told by the eBay that the one I need is different from the ones that are available, does anyone have a link to a seller or even one for sale?

which section have they failed it on, specifically is it section 3.1?

as I thought it only had to be 'clear, clean and safety glass or safety glazing'

Sorry i don't know where to source a replacement although they do pop up on E-bay from time to time, need also to make sure which side as they are 'handed'

I’m with Alan on this one!

Let me know where you had it tested, as my mate works for a company that helps garages NOT lose their license for failing stuff that isn’t testable! He’d love a new customer!

My mechanic uses an off site MOT station so I haven’t seen the paperwork yet, I understand that it was deemed as “safety critical” as it wouldn’t go down but if it had gone in already down it would have passed.
I is the drivers side that has gone, am I correct in thinking that the OEM quoted for my reg in places like Auto Doc don’t actually fit the later models because they don’t look like the one that came out of my 95 Celeb and if so do you know the part number I need to be looking for?

pop your reg number into the DVLA website 'check my MoT' and it will tell you the 'failure'

Hi - I replaced the LHS regulator on my 480 with an after market item bought on Ebay. You may want to check my comments on the forum - under Electrical, find Recommissioning a 480, 5. Windows. Beware of referring to Driver/Passenger or even Nearside/Offside as these are opposite in Europe where a lot of 480s and spares are found - better to use Left/Right.

For the RHS the Volvo part is 3465273-5, but new are unavailable. Secondhand are likely to be nearing the end of life at best. There are after market items available to a slightly different design, as was the item I bought. I got it from autoelectricsuk (Ebay no. 111371687612) and is made by Elta (part no. ER1705), but they do not appear to have one for the RHS. It cost £111. On checking my RHS door, I found that had already been replaced by a unit made by Valeo (part no. 850471), which was a mirror image of the Elta unit.

A quick search on Ebay turned up a few units of the non-Volvo design, but mostly LHS and mostly located in Lithuania. However, one does seem to be what you need, namely Ebay no. 393462724353 from spareparts4cars coming from Lithuania (my supplier was UK based). The listing does include a cross reference to other makes/numbers, if you want to do more searches, or extend to outside Ebay. Hope that helps!
Dave

I've got a window regulator, looks good so far, I've had a new brake calliper fitted on the back left, the foot brake works fine but the hand brake has no affect, it can't be faulty, any experience of this or trouble shooting advice would be appreciated

Sounds like whoever fitted the caliper just threw it on. There’s a few threads on here about how to correctly setup the handbrake. Heck, even the Haynes book of lies version is pretty accurate!
