Scrappage scheme
Hi all.according to a utuber ‘Geoff buys cars” there were 166 Volvo 480s scrapped during the 2009 scrappage scheme.wonder how many were rare editions or turbo’s and remember these were all cars with a then current MOT.

Re: Scrappage scheme
Here is the raw data from the government website regarding the 480s that were scrapped. The number at the end of each row is the number of each scrapped. Bear in mind, this only goes off of what was on the V5 at the time, so trim levels such as the Two-Tone and Paris Editions in particular will be an unknown quantity due to most of them being registered as just '480 ES' or '480 SE' on the V5. In contrast, some ES models have been known to be incorrectly listed as GTs by mistake and vice versa. Some of them are questionable, as there were never officially '480 XI' or '480 GLE' trim levels to name but a few. In other words, take this list with a pinch of salt, even though is the best insight we have into this.

Funnily enough, that YouTuber you mention bought a 480 a while back and posted a review on it. It unfortunately wasn't a good example, and the last I heard of it was the head gasket went and it ended up being scrapped.

Re: Scrappage scheme
Thanks for further info William. As you say not very reliable when it comes to editions and as DC has commented very sad reading. The number of autos is interesting as there are very few left I believe.
Re: Scrappage scheme
“Geoff bodges cars” did far worse; he sold the twin tone with a noisy water pump and none working infocentre. The new owner got ten miles before the pump failed, causing the car to overheat massively, all unnoticed because, of course, the infocentre didn’t work.
So yes, it went to scrap. can’t blame the owner, he got the car for the price of the raffle ticket (£10 as I recall) so he would still have made money scrapping it.
