Creaking noise

Good morning one and all
I have sorted a few issues on the GT but a creaky noise when steering I cannot locate and nor can the garage I took it too. It has a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel left and seems to be worse at low speeds. The garage i took it too said they think it's either wishbone or steering rack issue. They said they could not work out which one them was the problem and that I should drive it until it gets worse. They also said nothing they could see was loose or obviously cracked. Does any have any idea of the issues I may have or a way I can find out definitively? Many thanks

Creaking while steering of course could be many things but is often the suspension top mount bearings

By the way, I’m not sure if these are good parts or not as there is no brand mentioned. But basically, they are available.

Polar parts also have them for £16.89 each plus £14.90 shipping and currently 10% off. Basically the same for a few quid cheaper.

And if you do change this top mount (item 3 in pic below), it’s probably prudent to change the bearing (item 12 below) at the top of the suspension strut also. And if you’ve gone that far, it could be time to consider new shock absorbers as they will nearly removed to replace the above!

Lastly, the anti-roll bar bushes car creak also and you could get lucky and apply a little oil or grease to them. They are item 20 above

For such front end creaking noises my first suspects in order are always (1) drop-links then (2) 2 top mounts.

Changing drop links is usually easy unless the bolts are totally seized, and they don't tend to be expensive, so an easy one to eliminate first...

Hi chaps. I have finally got around to getting the strut mount and the bearing but still have to creaking noise as before. The link arms look new so don't think it's them. Is there anything else I could try? Many thanks

Any chance of a video of the noise? (I can help with posting it)

Does the noise stay when the car is jacked up?

Oh and new looking link arms shouldn't be overlooked - I had a perfect looking one fail the MOT for a shredded boot!

Hi Jiff
I have taken some videos when driving. You can hear the sort of creaking noise. You ok if I send it via email? It seems to occur when pulling away or slowing down but more so when Steering in a direction.
