A positive article on the Wedge

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Take a look at this, another Rockstar has just made a positive article for the 480, I have personally added my tuppence and supported it, thought I ought to share it with everyone on here :D

Really sorry to be a grump but it’s just the same recycled shit like every time from these non-journalists.

It’s not Swedish
ALL the engines are Renault
They haven’t driven one.
Probably haven’t ever seen one.

But, I did contact him
And apparently he is potentially getting the bug, have pointed him in our direction and that of the R Cars. Apparently the more he learns the more he desires one

Remember, history is history and there are only so many ways it can be packaged, otherwise it is just fabrication. Sure, to us the story has been told a thousand times, but DT is generally aimed at the more mainstream, #carenthusiast set many of whom will not have heard the story, and wouldn't know to go looking for it. I do find myself having to correct a lot of people though "it's a coupe not a hot hatch" :wall:

I totally get your point, but in a way this is a new platform for Wedge exposure, as opposed to traditional small reader base sites and classic publications

On a side note I have offered Gavin at PetrolBlog the use of my car to put together a feature, as and when we can. So that is some food for thought :)

I get what you are saying but I don’t really have much desire for the 480 to get extra exposure and bring the great unwashed to our little niche.

Fair enough, but at least people see the value in preserving them now. I have said time and again I like the 480 in its niche, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't be aware of it. Look at the scimitar GTE, that has remained stubbornly niche even though it has had loads of attention lavished on it as 'the next big thing' year after year, latest one is in CCW this week.

Last thing I want to see is the community diluted, but an amateur article I doubt will have a huge impact, the Internet does forget very quickly. Tomorrow someone else will put something up, and the train will move on. Someone will remember the little 480 though, and possibly become involved.

But yeah, is it too much to say the 480 has been in splendid isolation?
