Volvo 480 Club Europe

I learnt from Jeff today that Bernard from Lake's Volvo in the UK had died. I think a lot of us have had parts from the two elderly brothers that run the place. Personally I've always good, friendly and fair dealings with them both.

May I propose that a card is sent on behalf of this club to his surviving brother Barry? I am happy to buy, write and send it; maybe even to hand deliver it. If one of you clever arty types has the gear to make a Volvo 480 Club Europe specific card, I'd be on board with that too.

Just an idea, please let me know what you think.

seems a 'decent' thing to do, very sad for anybody's loss, especially so at what is 'meant' to be a 'joyous' time....

This is sad to hear, but at the same time I think it is a lovely idea.

I never had much dealings with Lakes but their reputation and the fact that many of these cars would not be around thanks to their dedication.

I think a club cars would be very nice indeed, my thoughts go out to his family

We are so sorry to hear of the sad loss of Bernard, especially at this time of year. Many of our UK members have good reason to be grateful for the friendly help and fair dealings for much needed parts provided by Bernard & Barry over many years. Bernard will be sorely missed.

That looks very nice, I would personnally change the font a little bit to something a bit less...clinical...but otherwise I am a fan of the design

Sad news indeed - I think every one of my current fleet has at least one item in it that came from Lakes.

The card looks just the job to me, and I think tying it into the club is a good idea.

What a loss to the community. I hope the breakers yard will continue to operate, as I have understood it's the last of its kind.
By coincidence I've re-watched Flipping Bangers yesterday (it was on Discovery Channel) but his brother Barry was filmed.

Sylvia very kindly printed the card out and sent it to me. I've written the suggested words in it and it will now reach him via the post and some friends of Barry.
