Hi David,
Yes the odometer is still working, thanks!
I’ve just done a Trackdays in it, it was brilliant and thankfully the car survived with no issues.
It has got me thinking though, the brakes could be better, and a bit of a stiffer ride would have made it even better through the corners. I was just coming on here to see what folk have with theses things.

Ok, one week to go, Covid19 taking the country by storm, half of Yorkshire under water, a couple of days of sunshine to bring us (grudgingly) out of winter hibernation - who is still up for this?

I've done nothing with my own beastie other than the MOT with total overhaul of brakes. Driving her about once a week at the moment, but have been too busy on the dry days to do anything sensible like polishing, oil changing, deep cleaning of the interior etc. One thing I'd like to do is find a solution for securing the mud-flaps,which are currently more flap than anything else - any suggestions for appropriate & reliable fixings gratefully received.

So, assuming the mini-meet is stiill on, what is the plan?

Al the best!

Martin

Very much looking forward to meeting up, even if it is a mini-mini-meet with 4 or 5 wedgies, it will be fun :)

I hope Saturday is dry enough for me to do an oil change, and a bit of polishing, but hey ho, I'll sail to Skipton in a 480 dinghy if needs be!

Good evening.
Car is running reasonably well - Hull/Lowestoft & back last weekend - so, do you mind if I join you on Sunday?
By the way, whereabouts (what street/Post Code?) is the Town Hall?

You are very welcome. I take it from your location you will be using m62/a1 then a59?. If so you can pm me or David(D C Walker) re a meeting place. I am in Knaresborough and David no doubt will be crossing the A1 onto the 59 at junction 47 so we can meet up and travel to Skipton together if that is easier for you. Look forward to meeting up on Sunday. Norman

My route will be A1079/A64/A1237/A59. I was going M62 and then through Bradford.
However, if I remember correctly, Bradford is a bit of a pig to get through.
I'll be stopping for some breakfast at the McDonald's at the junction of the A1273 & A59 round about 08:15.
Still got to programme my Sat-Nav so not sure if that time is good.

Am coming along with my girlie crew (Maeve, Madelaine (5) and Margot (2)). Madelaine is very excited at the prospect of seeing multiple 'whoosh cars' in a row! I just hope the weather cuts us a bit of slack :)

Setting off from Blackburn around 9.00am and Google Maps times it at 51 minutes from home to the Skipton Town Hall car park.

Anyway, let Rattle Commence!!

Hello all, and particular greetings to Norm, Yorkie and Nigel & Son - great to meet up (if only briefly) this morning.

My apologies for having had to bail out unexpectedly en route - I had the call of doom from Maeve back in Skipton, telling me in no uncertain terms that she wasn't going to attempt to cope with the terrible twos (Margot) and flouncy fives (Madelaine) on her own whilst I was off gallivanting around North Yorkshire, so I had to turn round and do the responsible thing.. I knew I'd made a mistake allowing them out of the car in the first place (or was it IN to the car??) but hey ho... :badmood:

So, sadly, my main impressions of our mini wedgie convoy were of bringing up the rear and then seeing you all disappear off into the Dales, whilst I turned and trudged back to Skipton. I did enjoy seeing the three other cars:

Norm's immaculate Celebration looked fabulous - lovely lustrous paintwork and not a scab to be seen!

Nigel's very smart Celeb, fresh from it's track day exertions, with his son's wonderful Lego wedgie model :)

Yorkie's wonderful Turbo, with it's implausibly battered rear clusters!

I was sad not to see David, who I understand was indisposed at home on the day.. all the best to you & yours, DC!! See you again another time (perhaps when the weather is more enticing?)

Anyway, here are some of my photos of the convoy..

Wedgies into the distant Dales..

Looking forward to the 'proper photos' later on!!

All the best to all intrepid 480 enthusiasts out there - at least we aren't going to have to worry about 'mass gatherings' !!!!

Glad you are ok Martin, your phone message very garbled (dales reception!). Good to meet up with you all and a fun drive thru the dales. Fingers crossed that Yorkie gets back to Hull on his space saver after his coming together with a rock. We must do it again covid 19 permitting. Cheers Norman

So sorry Norm, Nigel, Martin and Yorkie that I missed this - unavoidable circumstances on the day :(

Glad you had a good time, though, and nice to see some photos; once the current pandemic issues are clear, perhaps we can do it again?

Hello David - good to hear from you!

It was a lovely drive (even if mine was curtailed somewhat) and given the relative close proximity it is something I'd be more than happy to repeat as the weather improves, assuming the entire country hasn't melted down in the current pseudo-pando-crisis!

Perhaps we can organise a mini-mini meet sometime? Even a couple of 480s (specially polished and purring) would create something of a stir and a statement on the bland British roads at the moment. We might even get more folk turning up if the weather was good!

All the best!

Martin
