out of hibernation for a while.

My 480 is making an unusual venture out in winter this week while my C30 is having her headlights split and painted. Dropped off the C30's headlights to first drop off in a relay up the country to get them to Newcastle. Ice everywhere, closed roads and now a stone chip in my windscreen  but it was a joy to be in my 480 with that nice cold air. Ran like a dream :D

Newcastle?!?!?

Surely it’s something that could be done locally?

And at least you get to find out if the heated seats work!

It's a long story Jeff, I won't go into it!!

As for the heated seats, I have actually never tried them and a fear trying them to be disappointed when they don't work! Maybe I will try them,I don't much care for heated seats so I won't really care if they don't come on :hopping:

oh I'm the opposite! Thanks to being the owner of a glassback (those years in the motortrade were killers), I tend to find heated seats a blessing in anything other than hot summers days.

Well, my Mk1 TT winter car is royally f@#"+& so I think my 480 might have to venture out on the salty Highland roads a few months earlier than planned πŸ™„

Any tips for stopping it from completely disintegrating? I don't think it's ever seen a salty road before!

It's already got a decent coat of underseal just to protect it from the Scottish summer 🀣

If I rinsed the salt off the underside every couple of days it should be ok, surely? I used to run all my previous 480's through the winter, the heated seats were ace 😁

It's crazy, but since having my whole underside cleaned up and treated with POR15 - probably the best thing you can use - I have been more precious about taking my 480 out in winter! But honestly, after a jet wash to the under side all the crap just washes away and it looks beautiful again. I would never choose to run him all winter, and like you said Murf, I was tempted with cleaning after each run, but I have been fortunate and it has been mainly dry. Tomorrow is the last day and it looks to be wet. I have taken the opportunity to cure the rear door seal leak (silicone pipe ran inside door rubber and a little sealant along the top on the passenger side rear light which was leaking) so it's all been positive and it's been a joy to drive around as my daily - once you put the fear away knowing I clean it up easily, I honestly think it's been a good thing, both for me and for the 480! (I'm just looking forward to getting him clean and under his dust cover tucked away in the warm garage!!)
