New 480 owner

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

New 480 owner

Post by BangVolvos » Sat Aug 17, 2019 9:29 pm

Hello,

I have always loved the look of volvo 480s. Well I have now purchased one as a project with a mate of mine. It drives fine, but has many electrical gremlins. Spent most of today figuring out the CEM and trying (without success) to get the indicators to work.

See you in the electrical section!

Welcome!

I suspect electrical faults came as standard when they were new!

Yes it seems that way!

doesn't help that someone has been hacking around in there fitting an aftermarket alarm system. I have now chopped that thing out and re-joined the original wiring. Also someone glued the bonnet release handle to the stalk! Made getting to the CEM a right pain in the arse, had to break the Handel off in the end, so need to find another one from somewhere.
