So, following on from the great photobucket debacle, I've been thinking about how we could prevent a similar loss of information.

So, one idea, was to start taking some of the "how to guides", and turning them into PDF's, so that they're complete.

Thoughts?

sounds like a plan to me. some of my other forums ( I'm terribly disloyal  )do this and it works really well. It also means you can download and print them easily, which is handy if don't fancy taking your laptop under the car with you

Works for me 😁👍
I had a similar idea with guides for my last car, as you say users and hosting sites disappear and suddenly you lose a lot of helpful information

Damn that's clever, assumes that you don't exceed your 16Gb storage allowance, easily solved by setting up numerous accounts :-)
note that you are still using a 'third party' to store them . .. .

I do agree though that in pdf format they are properly 'portable files'

Mahooosive thanks for setting about doing this 'thankless' task :D

Well, technically I'm using a 3rd party to share them - I've got the original word docs on my PC!

share / store , whats a few letters

it was the use of the disc space to share them as that comes out of the 15Gb allocation? . . . .

The currently utilised 700mb is nothing to lose sleep over! :D

For anyone who's wondering whats there, there's currently 16 done and they are:

Volvo 480 - 710N upgrade.
Volvo 480 - Adding Passenger Seat Height Adjustment.
Volvo 480 - CEM Self diagnose function.
Volvo 480 - Crankshaft Sensor Cleaning.
Volvo 480 - Door Lock Ring Replacement Door trim removal.
Volvo 480 - Doorcard Buildup.
Volvo 480 - Electric Aerial Replacement.
Volvo 480 - Finding and Fixing Volt Drop.
Volvo 480 - Headlining Replacement.
Volvo 480 - Late mirror cover replacement.
Volvo 480 - Re-tension Roller Blind.
Volvo 480 - Rear Brake Overhaul.
Volvo 480 - Rear Bumper Removal.
Volvo 480 - Replacing the Speedo Cog Wheel.
Volvo 480 – Headlining Replacement.
Volvo 480 – How to change the fuel filter.

The other good bit is that photo-fuck-it pictures appear better in the PDF versions, as they don't have the watermark and blurring on them!
