Come on the fellow leaflet hoarders, satisfy my curiosity.

1994 Sunroof manual Turbo, with all the extras:

What would the book price have been?

According to the '94 press kit here, a turbo cost £16,495. Not clear what trim level that refers to, though.

Edit: Looking at the tables at the end it looks like you need to add your leather interior, steering wheel and aircon as extras, so we need someone with an accessories catalogue and price list for that year.

Another edit: I took a photo of my '94 dealer brochure:

Image

It suggests that leather upholstery was standard on the turbo in '94, so that just leaves the steering wheel and air con. The '93 two tones had the leather wheel as standard, so it might have been something that could be specced when ordering. You would probably have had to have asked for it specifically though as the SRS wheel was standard by that point.

I have my Volvo's original paperwork from 1987 somewhere as they came with the car. As I remember the price in Sweden was about double what a base model Ford Sierra would've cost at the time. Very expensive car. I'll have to dig up the paperwork to see if I remember right...

This list of options is pleasantly simple compared to modern cars :)

Most useful sir, and had me diving for the V5 - You'd be correct, I'm the plonker with a 1993 Turbo! 4/1/1993

Don’t forget metallic paint.

If it was registered that early in Jan 1993 it would have been built in 1992 however model year doesn’t follow build year so best to check your Vin for model year. In-between the E and C (I believe all 480s had those letters) just before the chassis number will be N for 1992 or P for 1993.

Having said all that pricing (as opposed to spec) may have nothing to do with build or model year and only to do with when sold.

Did some rough calculations - it's around double that in todays money!

It's just to put on a car show flyer, to give people of where it sat in the day, how it compared with other cars etc

My GT was £16535 in 1994 which equates to £32k today.
An every option V40 T3 comes in at about £32k today, but with discount would be nearer £27k.
Shows how expensive the 480 was.
Were they so expensive on the continent too I wonder?

All of those things and more were available. The page I photographed is the back of the '94 brochure, which just lists the different standard equipment levels for the different models. There's a separate accessories catalogue - you might be able to find one online, or if it's of particular interest I'll see if I can get some decent scans of the ones I have.

That'll be me then :bla:

Below is my 1994 price list :

This reflects 'brochure options' as listed on Jaster's post. Sadly, I don't have an accessories price list for the Venetian blind etc... that's on the eBay wanted list

These are 'recommended retail prices'; I'm sure dealers cut a lot of discount in the run-out years.

The way I read the '94 brochure, all models have 'full' leather as an empty circle = option (second one down on RHS). Although we call it full leather, the brochure calls it 'part-leather'. I think that's because its only full leather faced - the sides/back is faux leather.

Image

You and I 'half leather' left (called 'Rococo Plush / Leather'); You and I 'full leather' right (called 'Part-Leather Faced').

Something tells me the ugly SRS wheel was mandated and non-deleteable. It was never leather trimmed from memory. It would be interesting to see if the MOMO wheel is available in a 1994 accessories list because according to threads on here, it needs a column change, and I cant see dealers doing that to a new car...

I think you're right about the SRS wheel being compulsory. Wouldn't surprise me if they came in with the 440/460 facelift which was also in '94 if I recall correctly. My '94 GT came with it and one of the first things I did was replace the upper steering column with a pre-SRS one so I could fit the Momo wheel (or have the option to use the 2-spoke should the occasion call for it). Highly recommended by the way - not a massive hassle, and well worth the upgrade even just to go back to the two-spoke wheel if a Momo proves hard to come by. You're correct that the SRS wheel was never available in leather, but the two-spoke (as fitted in Jeff's car) was.

so if mine has the moon roof, front fog and ABS then list is nearer £16500, so at £1440 it must have seemed a bargain.

I guess lots of the 'extras' were 'thrown-in' as cars would been in show-room with lots of 'nice bits attached'

but what wheels were 'standard' as I have seven spoke 14" which I assumed were 'normal', maybe 5 spoke 14"?
