Asfalt - Swedish Motoring Programme - 480 Episode!!

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Asfalt - Swedish Motoring Programme - 480 Episode!!

Post by Martin Mc » Mon Apr 25, 2016 9:02 pm

Hello all,

Just came across this wonderful tribute to the 480 on YouTube - its a programme called 'Asfalt Motormagazin', a kind of retro Swedish Top Gear.

Have a look - ignore the first (very odd) minute or so - it is worth the wait, especially as it has English subtitles for us non-native Swedish speakers!

Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQEEDsnTtXY

Cheers!

Cool! :D

Think the first minute or so is supposed to be a nod to the era the 480 was born into.

Damn, I deeply miss mine :cryhard:

excellent

I like the comments about electrical gremlins.

NB different headlining on the Turbo vs UK spec or just the lighting?

imagine a T5 engine in a 480, :D

Thought about it myself and looked into it a little.

Unfortunately, it's much too big :(
There was a fella on VOC that shoehorned one into a 440, but LOTS of cutting was required and the front wheels looked rediculous with how far they stuck out!

T4 is physically possible and been done once before in Poland I think. Never been done in the UK though as far as I know.
200bhp out of the box, with an extra 50-60 ponies easily available with very simple mods. :)
I'm doing the same conversion long term with a 460, so I'll stick a project thread on here for anyone interested, as they're nigh on identical.

Cool :) I really liked the translation. At one point the speaker says the electrics is "interesting" which is translated to "modern". I guess interesting is a more appropiate expression :hopping:

This made me smile, I feel a lot cooler now. There should be more motor mag specials on the 480. I can vouch for the "developed at Lotus" claim, I worked with some older guys there who remember it well, especially how it bent in the middle when they got it on a ramp
