Just broke my drivers seatbelt arm. :-(
Well I have been running around trying to make things safe all bloody day before the "worst storm in 25 years' hits...
I go to park my car around the back of my house and the neighbours builders have left all kinds of potentially hazardous items lying around and I have to try to tidy it up or risk some of it making contact with my cars. Idiots!
I then park my black 480 as near to the strongest wall I can find so this means squeezing out of the door, I get up a bit too quickly and proceed to shoulder barge the bloody seatbelt arm causing it to snap! GUTTED
Somebody tell me I can still get this from Volvo?!! Those seatbelt arms are an integral part of the charm of the car for me.

Hmm well I don't think he has done a very good job there but I do actually think I might be able to do better. EDIT just realised that was you Van. I meant very nice job!
If all else fails I will have a go!
I saw that somebody from this forum bought one from a dealer in the UK in 2010 but who knows if you can get them now..I'm going to call a local Volvo dealer tomorrow anyway.

Well I just called up the dealer to be told that they are unavailable now as I'm sure some of you must know already!
I also tried to order a new heater control knob and these are gone now too.

Hi spree I have a few heater control knobs spare. Been busy this weekend so I was unable to look out the other parts you were looking for.

Looks like I'm going to have to get the dremel out and have a go at repairing the seat belt arms in a similar way to what Van did.

I works and you don't see it from the outside.

Call Lakes Volvo, it's a Volvo only scrapyard— they may have one. It'd be easier if you were driving past to stop and look yourself but they may be able to post parts if you ask.
They have about 10 seriously dead 480s in. The majority don't have arms (I've looked) but you might be lucky if they have a new arrival.

They are on the A1 and always worth a trip for a haul of little bits. It a proper old fashioned one where you are free to remove what you need and generally wander about and marvel at so many dead Volvos (and weirdly the rustiest Commer camper known to man!).

Nice one! I work in Milton Keynes quite a bit so I can pay them a visit on one of those days.
Cheers for that.

I do hope you a referring to the seat belt arm...because otherwise that sounds potentially hazardous!Van wrote:One more help: I applied some glue on the nuts to secure them.spree wrote:Nice one Van. I'm going to give it a go!Van wrote:I works and you don't see it from the outside.
