Last day driving my 480T....for now.

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Last day driving my 480T....for now.

Post by Rachel » Tue Feb 21, 2012 1:29 pm

It s a sad day for me today...I'm feeling very emotional

We've got a new family car, BMW 3 series, and the 480T has to come off the road  The insurance moves over to the BM tomorrow so the 480, after a last quick spin round the country lanes, is now sat there unable to move :cryhard:

Up till today I had both insured as I had BMW complimentary insurance on the BM, so I was able to drive them both which was great....I did find myself wanting to drive the 480 more than the BM....it's much more fun, and I miss not having a turbo.

Anyway, the 480 has a garage to go in once we move, so it can rest up until I decide what to do with it, but the way I feel right now it won't be going anywhere! ;)

I know they are not the best quality car, they have their many issues, but they sure do have something about them ;)

Anyway, I just had to talk someone who would understand like I'm sure you all do...thanks for being here guys :hopping:

Yep, I feel the pain. I bought a BMW 540 last April, kept the 480T running until December. I was an idiot because I neglected to check tax renewal and both the 480 and the 540 expired on 31 December ... not the best time of the year, so the 480 is on the drive under covers.

And God I miss it. Logically I know I shouldn't, it's slower, less practical (rather less thirsty of course), the air-con is dubious, a back wheel is squeaky and it's the usual sieve, but somehow it's just not as much fun.

But on the up side, the BMW gets sold this month (price of fuel 'n' all), replaced with another Volvo (probably), then bonus in April = a year's tax for the 480 and back on the road. I am looking forward to that.

Reading threads like these upset me :(
Mine's been off the road since June, I've had the car for just over a year now and I've only driven for the first 3 months. Too tidy to use, too tidy to sell even though I don't know when I'll be able to use it again, I just know I'd regret it if I did. Great little car, much nicer to drive than my beloved V70.

At least she's tucked up

Understand how you feel, I had 2 on my drive and had to get rid of one of them, it needed a lot doing to it, fortunately my new one is in really good shape, but I had to go the road to see my friend the night before she went cos I wa sooo upset and needed some TLC and some very nice chocolates!! like you said thy have their faults!! but there is something about them, at least you can garage it and who knows what may happen in the future.

 Haven't driven PUS since last October and I never see any on the roads anymore despite driving quite a bit with my job. He's tucked up nicely in my garage for now......he'll be back one day :D

Down the road from me in a place called Moccas http://www.google.com/search?q=52.07809 ... utf-8&aq=t there's a very tidy looking black 480 just sat on a shipping container under a black metal barn, I need to find out more about this one!
