New 480 ES Owner - Pics Added!

Hello All,

Picked up a red 1989 480 ES today with 80,000 miles on the clock. FSH and original brochures etc and a haynes manual which I think I will be needing!

Issues with the car:

- Problems when starting in cold, ok for first 5 mins, and idles where it wants to, anywhere between 300 and 1500 rpm! Gets warmer, then stalls.
- Info centre not working. Gonna take out dash soon
- Water leaking in at back near window - think its the seal on the lights, so silicone seal here I come!

Will post some pics up soon, once I have given her a good clean!

So, I have managed to fix the INFO CENTRE!

- I took out the dash and removed speedometer etc.
- Took out the back and gave a general good clean
- It worked fine for a bit when I first plugged it in, then would freeze.
- Went to back of alternator, cleaned Red wire that plugs in to alternator, which I believes goes to ECI, and hey presto, has worked since.

Turned out the car has 3/4 of a tank of petrol as well. Added Bonus!

Now have the engine issue of when warm cutting out in cold weather, so will need to address this one soon...

I have found the 480 to be a very interesting car indeed so far!

- Info Centre fixed

To Do:

- Sort engine cut out when warm problem
- Fix slight blowing exhaust
- Clean and Polish

So here she is in her current state, partly cleaned at front, but too cold too finish!

Thanks mate, its a black solid stripe with a slightly thinner solid silver strip underneath the black one. Will get some more pics up soon in the light.

Some time ago, a white car with the side stripe turned up for sale on marketplaats:

IMHO, the profile looks nice because it gives the impression of a "descending" rear .

I think, that stripe on the white car is a gay art of owner. It doesn't look like from the factory.
