Euro-ish Look?

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

P-Slots are too VAG! How about Porsche 928 drain covers? You would have to get some hub adaptors but I reckon they would look ace!

Another option would be these SAAB bad boys, in line with the Scandanavian heritage...

I want something with a pretty wide spoke... so those Saab ones would be good!

I'd laike the P-Slots though.. like the idea of them being too VAG! ha

Yo! I always thought the SAAB rims would look sick on a 480, they are cheap too. You can get ones with a deeper dish than the ones in the pic too:

Yes! "Dubstep" is opting for a peppermint green powdercoat for his! Orange would be sick on your white car!

I think he is referring to the SIR spec Civics, and of course the VTIs. Both of which have the almighty 1.6 engine which develops a staggering 170 horsepower as standard.
Then he should perhaps be more specific as to his requirements. There's an R reg. one for under £2000 on Autotrader with full Honda service history. (& I'd still see it off with my Richmod 480).

It's all very well developing 170bhp standard, but personally I'd rather that power be available at 2000-5000rpm rather than 7500rpm onwards.

The dub/Euro can just about suit some VWs. 480s are one of the few cars (along with the Mk1 MR2), that cannot be improved styling wise. They should be left alone.

You say "having seen plenty of 480s that look exactly the same", but surely the fact that the car itself is actually rare nowadays makes it unique before you have to make it look like plenty of other VWs.

In my 14 month ownership of my 480 I saw two other different 480s. I saw lots and lots of "dubbed" Golfs/Ventos etc. There were handfuls in the college carpark. The 480 always drew the most looks, even if some of them were "wtf is that?"

I know which I'd rather have. Each to their own, though. If you do these modifications, at least rescue a 480 that is on its way to the scrapper. That way there's a chance in the future that it can be returned to normal .

Hopefully for 2009 - 1.7 Turbo.

Just sorting some transport... then they'll be mine! ha

I know (hope) none of us are talking about stupid stuff like this...

And nothing's perminant.... :D not in my case anyway... all I've done is changed the bumpers, lights and wheels.

Ryan :)

I don't think any sane person wants to go down that route .

I just find it hard to understand the concept of taking a rare, uniquely designed car, and applying modifications to it that can quite easily be found on a host of VWs/Corsas etc.

(& I'd still see it off with my Richmod 480).
Having owned a standard 160bhp B16b vtec civic i assure you, my richmodded 480 would not see it off!

Not only does the civic have far superior handling but the power is delivered in a far more usable manner. I found the problem with the richmod is that you only have allot of power for a short amount of time and first and second gear are rather flat. Don't get me wrong, it is a great mod for the money i jus liked the progressive power of my Vtec!

and that R reg civic is worth about £1300 more than the equivalent 480 isnt it which backs up my budget related comment related comment!
Each to their own, though. If you do these modifications, at least rescue a 480 that is on its way to the scrapper. That way there's a chance in the future that it can be returned to normal
Im affraid its a very decent condition metallic grey turbo on sachs and koni shocks with a choice of 2 sets of wheels and heated leather!

Dont worry, everything i do will be removable and tastefull  (at least to my taste!)

Well im not going to compare a turbo charged hatch to a 1.5 lsi civic with 90 bhp am i!

I made a comparison between Honda' competition to the 480 turbo. Although without the addition of a forum mod the 480 wouldnt even keep up with a mid-bottom of the range civic would it!

Ye i saw those wheels on the charade, they look sick and the paint job is really nice.

@ all the 480 police  ...... there will be absolutely no bodywork mods apart from the peppermint green stripe on the rubbing strips and maybe even a cheque fuel cap -that ones for the forum heads!
