I'm just in the process of purchasing a new Lambda Sensor my my 1995 2.0 480. Can somebody please confirm with me that this is thew right one before I go and splash the cash:

Personally i'd buy a universal and splice the plug off my old sensor. Bosch ls4 as per below link:-

Or i'd buy the 35quid one from your link. Though you'd be better off with the bosch.

Actually i'd tend to find a 3 wire (new) bosch on ebay and try and get it for about 20-30quid. Thats what i usually do. - Or if i'm not keeping it long, there's universal cheap ones for like 12quid on ebay. - they seem to work ok. I've metered up the output, its fine. Won't last as long though.

If you want one with a plug - you're stuck on what you mentioned. The site looks pretty trustworthy. - And certainly, that is the correct plug.

Do you have experience with the lifetime of these cheap sensors? I'm wondering how long they last. The 2L here does not more than 7000 km/year, so probably it is fine for such a car?

The one on my firebreathing skyline is still fine after a year and 4k miles. Thats got seriously got exhaust gas too, the manifold glows orange and the sensor is just after the turbo.

My guess would be close to 20 if not more.

I need to buy a new lambda sensor but am ignorant and do not know whether I need one with a plug or not as mentioned in earlier posts.

Can anyoneadvise how I would tell?

Oh you need one with a plug...its whether you're prepared to fit the plug from your old sensor or not!

Buy one with the correct plug especially if its all new to you . Will last a long time so the the expense is justified.

I've ordered one of the cheap sensors just to check how well it will work. If I dies after 10k km then I'll buy a better one. Here is a picture of the cheap sensor (left) next to the Bosch LS02 (right). The Bosch one is used and dead due to a broken wire to the heater, and therefore a bit black.

As you can see the Bosch one has the exhaust gas opening at the top instead of the sides. I think it will collect less carbon this way as it isn't blown directly into it. The other difference is the size. The bosch one has a diameter (the part outside the exhaust) twice as big as the cheap one and is also a bit longer.

I'll see how well the cheap sensor works.

I've installed the cheap sensor last week. Removing the old sensor was quite difficult, as it was stuck solid and required a lot of force to make the first whole turn. It was still the original one, 93000km and 15 years rusted in place.

The new sensor works really well with the 2L engine. After some learning (I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU) idle is steady at 800rpm. No more idle at 1000-1200rpm. Also the engine stutter when approaching idle rpm with the clutch not depressed is gone now. The engine performs well and the fuel economy is at least 10% better now. The car passed the emission test for the Dutch version of MOT without any problems this week.
