The rebuild begins....

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Getting a bit inpatient waiting for my mate to be able to do the welding, especially as everything else is coming together now, so I have asked for a mobile welder to come out and gimmie a quote. He's coming out on monday, and if I'm happy with the price he'll do it that day!

Not really sure how much it's gonna be, but at least he wont have to strip the car, get parts or remove panels.

Fingers crossed (again) that he quotes me happy :hopping:

Been removing surfast rust off a brake carrier. Looked nasty before but getting better...

Going to be using metric capped bolts for replacing those manky old rusted bolts. Got the idea from seeing may big brake upgrades.

Happy days....the welding is done! :hopping:

Brian, a mobile mechanic and welder, gr8 guy, did a fantastic job today and all for 140 notes...even the weather stayed dry for the occasion

Here are some shots....

It's really straight and so good to have to bent bits removed

Now just have to wait for the paint shop to get in touch about the panels and start to refit!

Cheers.

Cleaned the carpet (used Rug Doctor.... OMG the colour of the water!!) and started refitting stuff today. The trim all went on very nicely next to the new sill which just shows how good a job Brian did. I will get it painted at a later date...when it's all really nice and warm...for now that bit can stay as it is.

I would like to treat the inner wheel arches as they don't look great. Planning to spray in some Waxoyl. Maybe job for tomorrow

:D

Been doing some ICE today....decided to up grade the speakers....only managed the drivers side as I don't have the passenger side door yet, or the interior in the rear, but it's a start. Can't test either cause the battery is as flat as a really flat thing...look good though
;)

The ones I got are Pioneers - not the best money can buy, but I'm sure will better than the orig Volvo jobos

Did my rear clusters today.....nice shiny ones went in.....was 'fun' taking the old ones out, but the end results is very good....I'm well pleased....

Removal of old faded clusters....

Image

Replacement (thanks to Colm ;) ).....(note I had to clean the surrounding bits of 480 to match the shinyness of the clusters  )
