The rebuild begins....

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

The rebuild begins....

Post by Rachel » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:09 pm

...so here we go! Martin and I (mainly Martin) worked all day getting broken bits off, and stripping her ready for the cutting and welding work. Nothing else bad has raised it's head so far, so apart from a few little bits and pieces we have all the parts now....big thanks to those who have sold them to me :D
I now have most of the interior in my bedroom, as I didn't want it in my damp shed! I'm gonna clean it all up before it all goes back in so she should be better than ever
:hopping:
Here's some piccies....

I enjoyed working on the 480 today even if I did get wet under the car while cutting the cat bolts off. Rachel is much better taking all that trim off then I could have been!!

The car is in very good condition and well worth the extra work to get her back on the road! I love the 'cocking a leg picture! (that's the car not me btw)

Also Willow is sooooo cute!

@Murf, Cheeky sod! I like those shoes there like grandad shoes!

It's all good :D

I'm most impressed with how the WD40 is taking the load of the whole back of the car.

I will. Things have been a bit slow as I am waiting for the cutting and welding to be done on the sill. This should start next weekend though :hopping:

In the meantime things are getting cleaned/fixed/ordered and sorted, and I'm still driving a Ford

One of my concerns through this project has been rusty fastners. Rachel's 480 is having new stainless steel bolts/screws for those that have rusted badly. ie fog lights screws and bumper nuts / down pipe and cat bolts&nuts. It should all come back together nicely. :D
