a little rant. snow caps and other products

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

a little rant. snow caps and other products

Post by lee » Fri Feb 06, 2009 5:31 pm

The snow scoops i may put a group buy on in a couple of months but not before. but be warned then are not no where near as cheap as the spoilers as they are more labour intensive. i have stated in previous posts that i would see how the spoilers went before deciding weather or not to do the scoops so please STOP ASKING!!!!! If you want one that bad you can have the mould for what it cost me £1000. Yeah thought that might put a lump in your throat. i have had to buy all the moulds out right and then i have to pay for copies to have my time wasted time after time. My 2 front spoilers and snow scoops have been from people messing me around i could name people but i won't. This was my reason for leaving this forum the same as richard (rpreun).

I do not have the time and mo ney to waste over a single item. Well not unless you want to pay more than normal to justify my 30 mile detour my loss of time at home as it is completley in the wrong direction to my house. 30 mile is 1 gallon of fuel, 1 hour plus of my time and the wear and tear. on top of this there are the packaging costs and the cost of the scoop fitting kits if you need one.

i am sorry for the rant but i am gettingt more than a little pissed off with the same people asking but not offering a bean when i give them i think is a reasonable price on something that owes me.

If you look in the sales the moulds are listed there if someone else want the agro from timewasters. I have return on atempory pass to this forum to find my time still being wasted. If you want something you buy it. Dont promise to pick up next weekend and never turn up, dont keep asking me for a price then leaving it a couple of months just to ask again.

A message to the mods and admin. can i block thesde time wasters from contacting me? without leaving. If i go the products go with me if no one buys them.

I don't know why you bother really if it's such a pain in the ass. It's always been an issue of people on here spending cash on there 480's.

Was this a dig at me? If so I don't really understand why. I was trying to raise awareness of the fact you can make the scoops and get enough people to order, so you can get money back for the investment made into getting the molds done and the people being able to get scoops for their 480s. Everyone is a winner in that situation aren't they? I've had my 480 for almost 5 years and have bought many many pieces off people on this forum and never been tight about it. You should be hounoured that people want something that only you can do, and realise your input is appreciated.

@480_rocket

I don't think this was a dig at any person in particular just a general rant by Lee at people who he feels have let him down.

I have been involved in some of the work with Lee and know first hand of the outlay costs involved, nowadays it isn't possible to shell out £400 - £500 quid for a batch of parts and then wait around for them to sell. Its the same when trying to organise meets, there is always an initial outlay and people want to come but aren't forthcoming with the cash in time, for whatever reason..

The list could go on and on, look back over the years, Hausser kits, but people don't want to pay, white dials etc, etc etc.

So I for one fully understand Lee's feelings, i share his dismay. There are good reliable people on this forum and you know who you are, but things aren't what they were.

this was not a dig at anyone one person. Its a dig at people who ask how much they reply i will get one next week or i'll get one on payday. Thing is with these people is they either die but can still use the internet or never get paid but dont bother telling me.

All the parts i have made have a lead time but people dont want to pay and then wait weeks for a scoop they want it straight away. So i have to order pay before i recieve monies. The group buy of spoilers was the last batch that i ordered before xmas and they have been sat awaiting collection, but with no available funds i haven't been able to pick them up. Hence group buy immediate delivery as parts are made. I have had to pay my bill but shock shock 50% havent paid. You cannot trade like this at a 50% loss.

The scoops i said i would see how the spoiler went. Group buy of 10 out of 4775 members. I was asking for 0.25 % take up and got it but went it come to money i get a 50% drop out rate. Can you see why i am a little hacked off.

I am going to do a group buy of scoops. I think 20 as group buys are 10 or say 20 - 50% = 10 i will want paypal desposit as soon as you place your interest. Is this fair? Will only run for 29 days as free to refund monies within that period. If you think this is fair then i will do the group buy if not i won't

Iroll480 - Are you going to be sporting yours in it's naked form?! I was thinking the same. The paint just gets stone chipped anyway.

I'll keep an eye out for mine at work today then. Should confuse the post people in my office!

No, was planning on using some black ground layer and finishing it of with 305 and a few layers of clear lacquer and polishing. Should do the job for the coming years I hope.

I take your advice then and leave it as is. Can always paint it later if I don't like it that way. prob wouldn't notice it anyway as the car is 305.

I really liked mine black. With the new one, when I get it, I think I will rub it down and spray it black. It blends in well with the front grill if left/sprayed black :hopping:
