Lulas restoration...a temporary good-bye

Well Lula is going to be coming off the road! Unlike November 2007, its NOT because she's failed an mOT (woop woop!) But because I have acquired another car and I can't afford to tax, MOT and insure both, so this is the perfect opportunity to get her restored!

I cant say how long she will be gone for...I'm not rushing, I want to completely strip her, and depending on funds, perhaps get her shot blasted, galvanised and definately re-painted, as long as treating her to new front light clusters, sorting out the rear clusters, wheels restored, restoring the interior and doing an underbonnet overhaul, fitting the lowering springs and shocks, as well as potential engine modifications. Really, the list goes on...and on...and on...! Oh and I have new rear calipers as well, as the rear ones keep seizing!

I will keep an update in my diary for anyone interested, but dont expect too much too soon, she is a rolling project, and now I have a garage for her I have no need to rush!

I will no doubt be popping back on here tho to keep up to date with things and hopefully to acquire a snow scoop from Lee!

The garage is a God-send so now I have no reason to sell her! Woop woop again!!

Well, I have a long list of what I want to do (must post this in the diary!) and yes its gonna costa bomb. I am thinking of turning her into a show piece. Shows and meets only beast. I am in no hurry, so I guess things will be done as and when I have spare cash!

@Martin: thanks for support! Thought of you today, leaving work in thick snow, some guy had some old 3 dr/coupe Beamer with roll cage and MAD camber, looked awesome, and he could handle it well in the snow! It was crazy in that snow rofl!

Oh, and any ideas are welcome guys! So PM me or leave a message here with what else I could do, or things I mustnt miss! x

Thought it was a little quiet of you Esta, so that's the reason.
Did I read correct galvanising the 480? That means disassembling to the shell taking all paint off!
So your other car is not a 480 I understand and it's not the Jag either?

@ Van, yes I shall *hopefully* be having it galvanised. I will strip her completely! She needs new arches anyway, and I might as well get her properly protected against the salt and grit on our roads...o hang on, what grit, havent the midlands run out rofl!

My new car is not a 480, no, but it is a JAG!! An XJ6! I was given it on the promise that I would get it through an MOT and keep in touch with the owner! So I shall! And its the kick I need to get my Lula sorted once and for all!!

@Cerbs! Yes I shall come along once the Jag is on the road so both our 40s can say hi to each other!

And I will have LOADS of space in the boot-what a novelty!

I dont think they can believe it lol! I am waiting till its on the road and going to count the number of times I get pulled by the police. A young girl in a Jag in the area I live is RARE! The Jag drivers in my area are either pimps or drug dealers lol!!

And I look even younger than I am so I suspect they will be checking that it DOES belong to me!!

I cant wait!!

You'll never get time to work on the 480 'cos you'll either be welding up/fixing the jag or working like a slave to buy fuel to put in it

The whole point of having a shitter is to get something cheap to run and minimal maintenance (think Honda/106/Saxo/etc) that you dont really care about

I think i burst my spleen laughing, i'm off to A+E now

!! I was using Lula everyday cos I had no other car, but I wasnt planning on getting anything cheap to run around in, I have been after a Jaguar for ages, this is finally it!!

She needs no welding, and I dont care about fuel-well, not at the mo lol!! Anyway, even if I had have been after some rough old dog I'd have got that cheap 480 turbo down the road from me cos I refuse to be seen dead in anything with less than 100bhp and is common as muck!

ROFL w/ Murf!

Murf is correct about buying a cheap car while your favorite (480) car is off the road awaiting restro! Unless you can afford to run a car which drinks fuel (2.5 straight 6 bmw) and still pay for the 'favorite'

The other thing is keeping the replacment car running. I'm welding up the sill next week and replacing bushes. Not cheap if you can't do the job yourself and while doing that my 'favorite' car gets nothing

Get a saxo! Be a good laugh all round
