Good bye 480T.....for now ;)

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Well the nice insurance man came over to have a look. Fortunately he appreciated the 480 for what is it :D
As expected it has been written off, and a value of £700 came up. He found that to be too little considering the year and past history of the car so he is going to do some looking up tonight on the net to find a better valuation.
He couldn't tell me whether or not I will be able to keep her though, as this is down to my particular insurance company to say. He will however say to them that is is safe for me to keep, so I will have to wait and hear from them and take it from there.
So not bad really. I still have to wait for the go ahead which is doing my head in but it's looking promising :)
I should hear from them again within the next few days....meanwhile I'm stuck on my hill, with a once a week bus service (I'm not kidding)

For Gods Sake! I can't physically keep my fingers crossed any longer, so although they're now un-crossed, I'll be offering positive thoughts up for you :D

Once a week eh...they're not solar powered by any chance are they?

Latest update.
Heard from the nice insurance man.
He says he will put forward a valuation of £1200. Whether or not the insurance company will except with that I'm not sure....they may well do their own research on it, so I will continue to wait.

I should be mobile again soon though...someone I work for has offered me a, wait for it.....Ford Mondeo 2 litre Gia, while they are trying to sell it. I can't begin to thank them enough.

My mate will come and look at the 480 on Sunday to see about the body work, he's a mechanic/body work and MOT inspector and I trust his opinion.

Martin, a star as he always is, has offered to do the mechanical work.

I go from really low to very positive at the moment. It's a waiting game, but I hope it will turn out well.

I just glad you lot are out there ;) :D

Hey thats not a bad valuation quote! One things thats worried me is that if I had a crash what would my car be worth? Least you got a decent guy come over! good luck with that! ;)

Nother little up date.....
My mate has confirmed that he will be able to do the sill! This was my biggest concern, and so a huge weight from my shoulders has been lifted!
Martin has offered to do mechanical stuff so I just really now need to collect parts and get it done.
I have been lent a car (Ford Mondeo Gia 2L) till it's done, so at least I can get to work now.
I still need to hear from insurance group to say that I can keep her, but I don't think they will say they have to take her away, she just isn't badly damaged enough to justify that....thank goodness!
So better news and on my birthday to, so I'm feeling a bit better now :D

Don't think 1200 is over the odds, its not, to buy a late turbo in good nick, thats what it costs, if not more.

Yeah it will. My claim has been handed to the Total Loss department. From here they, eventually, make me an offer. After all the work is done I get the VIC test done and MOT which will be up for renewal also.

you may also wish to check for more damage as cat c tends to mean possible chaissis damage. I have a front bumper in green but with marks. Other colours available. Also other parts in green.
