Pop Up Covers

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Something thats intrigued me...

There are a number of mechanical devices which increase sexual arousal, particularly in women. Chief among these is the Volvo 480 ;)

I think early ES's could have color coded lights and unpainted plastic bumpers.

If I'm right, the color coded lights were standard up to a certain chassis nr., so either ES or Turbo had them. However, the color coded lights used two parts (instead of just the black plastic one when things changed). I think volvo wanted to cut production costs, and overcome certain problems like it was necessary to withdraw the 1st part in order to adjust lights and the 2nd (the "case") could brake if the screws were overtightned.

Owners confuse matters by colour coding their own sometimes.
Past:
94 Turbo - Red
94 Turbo - Black (Converted from NA 2.0)
92 Turbo - Red
90 Turbo - Silver
Now:
00 Exige
15 GKD Legend
16 Skoda Superb

Mine is '87 ES and it has colour coded lights (and always had). The bumpers were black though.
