What a waste...

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

What a waste...

Post by Dan the 480 Man » Mon May 07, 2007 1:45 pm

This is at a local garage. They sell cars but it's out the back. I spoke to the chap about 18 months ago. He said he was keeping it short term for a customer and that the customers intention was to sell it when he got back from where-ever it was he had gone.

The car had 9 months MOT initially and there was *nothing* wrong with it. The arches were good, wheels are all tidy and pretty unscuffed. It caught my eye because it was initially really clean...It's done 87k and 2 owners from new with a near fVsh. It's a crime to see it like this...

Such a shame, imo. What you do reckon the chances of this car running right are? Is it worth badgering him to see if he can get in touch with the owner to sell it? I can't afford another one, but it's such a shame-the iinterior is spotless as was the car... :(

That is a waste, looks like it has good half leather interior too, could still be a good car, all we need it Dan to spend the day polishing it and it will be sparkling

Well as far as the look is concerend yes. But don't forget how weak electrics in 480 are. If car was standing 18 mths in moist habitat then there can be a small electrical gremlin inside.

Go speak to the owner. It looks very clean. Apart from the obvious dirt!
I see what you mean about the arches and the wheels look mint.

Go rescue!

The TwoTone was introduced for one simple reason: to clear the factory in Born of the pile of 1.7i engines. By 'mistake' it happened that a 2-liter engine found it's way into a twotone, I would seriously love to have such a car since I think the 2 liter is the best engine for a 480 (on the long run that is).

Hope you're able to get hold of this car for a nice price. Best would be to drive up there in a shabby 480 with rotten arches to point out what the car will look like in a few weeks ;)

Theres a bunch of 2.0 two tones.

I'd give 100 for that without checking it out.

maybe 200 if it looks straight.
Past:
94 Turbo - Red
94 Turbo - Black (Converted from NA 2.0)
92 Turbo - Red
90 Turbo - Silver
Now:
00 Exige

Roughly 1/4 of the ones I have seen are 2.0
