Approved Garages/Dealerships

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Approved Garages/Dealerships

Post by Big Brother » Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:13 am

I was just reading the whitelist thread that levensnevel posted in 2003. As this was a very good idea but was never carried out I thought we could make one here on the forum, I can’t do the map thing yet but will look into it. So if people post names and addresses of garages/dealerships they have had good dealings with and also what service they provide (i.e MOT/Serviceing/Parts/Tuning etc) I will add them to the OP of this thread splitting them into England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. That way if anyone needs a garage/dealership they can just look on here for ‘Member Approved’ garages/dealerships

By the way Ad, it is a very good idea.

I will get the details of Volvomax, Glasgow's best value and trustworthy Volvo independent, and put them up shortly.

Better whack this in. Only used them for parts but they know their stuff. Chris1roll uses them alot though and they are meant to be good. They did a great job on his rear quarter anyway. I couldn't tell it had been done!!!!!

True. I'll tell you something (for free) they won't provide value for money!

I wouldn't recommend Rybrook Chester Ad, they charged mum £65 to tell her they couldn't diagnose her 480 as the car was too old and they didn't have the correct diagnostic connector. I'm going down with her next week to try and get a refund as I think £65 for telling her that was a tad excessive (they didn't actually work on the car).

Their Parts department is very good however so I'd personally only recommend them for parts.

Deeside Volvo (Ind.Specialist) I wouldn't recommend either, tried to get me to fork out £400 for fitting a new steering rack. I got it home and it was only a loose connection on the steering fluid pipe on the rack!

And don't even mention the Kenny Galway in S.Eire, shower of .....

I recommend only one place to work on my volvos.

Me.

I simply don't trust any garage.

Maybe if Lee, Chris or Richard volenteered some help.....

I don't either but as I'm no where near as mechanically minded as some I don't really have a choice, hell I wouldn't take my 480 for an MOT if I didn't have to, especially after on mechanic was about to get in my car in oil soaked overalls without putting a seat cover on first, only stopped when I shouted at him.

Just going a tad off topic, Stu did your mum ever get any luck with her complaint to the dealer?

We have a few things on our lovely lovely 480 Turbo that need fiddling with. And that may involve welding, which we can't do...

Does anyone know of a good, reliable 480-friendly garage in London, or nearish? Doesn't have to be an official Volvo one. Just a friendly place that won't rip us off or sneer at our car.
