Fellow 480'ers: plea for help

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Fellow 480'ers: plea for help

Post by DaKyy » Tue Apr 10, 2007 9:26 am

I'm on my last legs to get my '87 480 through MOT. Though it will not pass emissions with a broken exhaust. My front exhaust from the exhaust manifold to the middle section is broken. I've now looked quite hard to get one here in Finland. Straight from Volvo it'll cost nearly 230£.

I've looked eBay for several months and even left a few notes on our belowed marketplace. Buypartsby.co.uk won't sell their part to me. Their version is over 100£ cheaper.(+shipping)

The part needed is for B18E engine, could anyone help me out here?

edit: bad grammar :(
edit2: really bad grammar :[

@DaKyy

Try www(.)bodyshopwarehouse(.)co(.)uk remove brackets

A few of us on here have used them in the past.
This company sell Bosal exhausts and if you contact them im sure you could arange some sort of courier delivery.

Hope that helps :D

Thanks Wayne!

They list the front pipe as unavailable - as it's usually been with all generally known exhaust suppliers. But I guess I can still ask!

Thanks Owen :)

I've looked into it and even asked about that very same exhaust here - it won't fit :( It is for B18EP as I need it for B18E. Strangely enough there are many different fittings on them. B18E is also a twin pipe but they come together on the end, forming one output.

as far as I know, B18E and B18ES have the same front pipe.

Thanks Wiebe. That looks promising, I couldn't find email from their site so I could ask them directly about the postages? Can you find one?

Daky

I've read a little bit on how it works on the site. You can contact them by mail
info@onderdeel-nodig.nl. Mailing will depend on the weight. Dunno but doesnt lookmadly expensive though. Exact price can be calculated on www.tnt.nl (site is available in english too) provided you know the weight of the parcel.

Just hope they have the part for you and are willing to send it out. Mind you they are very buisy on the 480 scene and get lots of mail with tech questions. Might be a while before they get round to yours, but they do reply.

Good luck

Wiebe

Any idea if B18F manifold/front pipe would fit to B18E?

Perhaps Renault used the same part for their 5GTE?
