I also changed the cam belt today and tested OK (after bolting it up of course) I noticed the water pump blades are plastic on the OEM(?) model.

Genuine volvo water pump blades should be Brass coloured (i assume it is brass)...or at least the ones on mine were. Lots of little fins too as opposed to a couple larger ones on the cheap one I got from Buy parts by.
