Goodbye Vader

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Goodbye Vader

Post by martinholmesuk » Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:39 am

Well today is a sad day.

I am scrapping Vader. It's at the Volvo dealer right now and needs bringing home. The cost of fixing the drive seal is £150

There are all sorts of little problems but it's making a large problem so I'm going to give in and scrap it.

I can't go on like this it's really doing my head in.

Expect mint rear clusters, a T25, rich mod, full leather and lot's of nice things. (don't ask for bits yet)

Afraid the momo is staying with me.

Thanks

Martin

Tonee: '93 Two Tone. High mileage but nice 'n' tidy.
Sheba: '91 ES Paris Special. Love that leather, baby. Scrapped and used as a spares car.

Seems like Martin is in bad need of a mental coach.

Maybe a 480 that hasnt been chipped/modded wouldnt have so many probs?

Anyone who lives nearby would have a nice car in vader tho............

It's not the chipping, the same mod is in loads of cars which function perfectly well.
That car has not been right since day one. :?

I do find this hard to believe after all the other times you've threatened to scrap her and sell her and haven't. I bet you don't do it.

I reckon even Ladbrooks wouldn't offer odds on this one, but sometimes your better cutting your losses/headaches and starting afresh. 480's are going for little money atm so could be good timing to get a fresh one. :dunno:

I think it would be good for Martin to kill Vader- I really don't want to see him going through more grief and money over this monster.

I suggested ages ago that we all pay £10 to watch Vader be set on fire (well the shell at least)- Martin could make a bit of cash out of that!
I herby pledge my £10.

Martin, why not scrap the closet and put the parts to making Vader run?

You'd get the Morris Traveller of Volvo 480s.

Sheba: '91 ES Paris Special. Love that leather, baby. Scrapped and used as a spares car.

Drove Vader home from Volvo tonight.

The last drive so gave it plenty of boost and the little bugger drove just fine but my mind is set.

I am scrapping it.

The body is really good but I'm not selling it. It's all very Bakke apart from Vader will be scrapped.

Sorry to see you leaving the 480 fraternity mate. Thanks for the help you have given me. I wouldn't have my lovely new clusters if it wasn't for you.
Are you still going to be available for advice etc?

Hello,

Well I started on Sunday afternoon and by Dinner time the head was off. Today I removed the turbo and most other bits.

I hope this does not make anything think less of me. This has been the 3rd best thing I have done this year and the 2nd most upsetting thing so it's rather sad but I really do hate that car and I have moved on and I will not look back.

Enjoy the hate.

No idea why it's pink looking!

(Rachel got my special Vader plates but they never made it on the car but I thank you for the kind thought)
