Precautions before welding

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Precautions before welding

Post by davidbackman » Mon Sep 09, 2002 12:06 pm

Hi guys,

According to Volvo one should disconnect both battery and ECU before welding on a 400. But my handbook says disconnecting the battery is enough. Which one is correct ? (unplugging the ECU is a bit of a hassle..) And what about the info-center and the CEM, do they need any extra attention prior to welding ?

I guess disconnecting the battery should be enough, but cannot guarantee. <img src="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie ...
Yours sincerely,

Daniël Wilten
<IMG SRC="http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/images/ ...
