alternaters

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Well, mine broke a couple of weeks ago, is it a virus or something? But I just changed the coal-and-regulator unit at the back of the alternator, took 5 minutes and costed me about 11 euro. Works fine now...

/Johan, ES -87

alternator virus ???

Well I had an alterantor exchange @ 153,486 miles when mine broke down some 10 weeks ago ;(
At the workshop they confined to me that a 480 'consumes' an alternator, on average, every 74,580 miles / 120,000 km.
So if your 480 is nearing that mileage, or 149,160 miles you now know what to expect <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Levensnevel

Mine @ 105K miles. RIP (however l just realised that the £20 scrappers replacement will now probably die in the next 10K)
