At last!
Been a bit of a long journey for me, but finally, I've just bought my first 480!
I first came on here after Easter (I think) collecting info on 480s. The plan was to buy one, however insurance told me where to go. Changed company on my renewal date in August, and was surprised to find this company were friendly for me to insure a 480.. Next minute, I was on the look out, but however much I really wanted a 2.0 GT, I was only limited to a 1.7 non-turbo.
Posted a Wanted ad on here, and searched eBay and AutoTrader. Member; welsh-dragon got in touch about one his son was selling, so after a few emails, a few phone calls, and a nice ride from Birmingham to Wales in a flash Saab 9000, I knew this deal would work out!
So, I now own a 1995 Volvo S, 1721cc, in Dark Grey Metallic.
Will have to do a check on that colour, but I'm pretty sure! With it being an 'S', it lacked fancy pants extras, but this 'S' would be coming equipped with a half leather interior and alloy wheels, not to mention the personal plate to suit the car. Probably the more realistic features it had, included the airbag steering wheel (which I really, really, really, really, wanted for looks), and the 1.7 engine (which is all I could get insurance on).
I've driven the car home and been playing around for about 300 miles now. What can I say? I love it. It's a massive change from my '90 Mini 998cc, and I have no regrets, no matter how much I still love my untrusting, and very rusty Mini.
It's nice to have a car without rust. It's nice to have a car that goes at the touch of the pedal. It's nice to have a car with a heater and working electrics. I'm a very happy and proud Volvo (480) owner.
The S has it's little nicks and nacks, but at the end of the day, it's a 11 year old car. The main thing is it had what I was looking for, I couldn't have asked for better.
I'm not much of a perfectionist, but my girlfriend really has it in for washing and polishing this car someday, so expect better pictures to come! I've got a little list of nicks and nacks I plan on fixing on the car before adding my own personal touches.
Just want to say a massive thanks to Tony on here for taking us through a great transaction! Holding onto the car for me, lifting us at the airport, and in general being a good guy.
I've registered with the website, look forward to viewing some of them members only pages!
P.S. I want a set of GT Vesa rims!

Congrats!
From experience, I'd probably ask Brasco and Dan for the colour confirmation DarrenDarren wrote:

Fantastic looking car there anyway amigo, but coming out of WD's stable of motors I'm not suprised as they're all minty (especially that minty white one). Great photo's too.
Anyway, now you've added to the Irish 480 crew, keep a look out for that M reg Flame Red with my old dear driving it, she says she does 100 without realising it sometimes so don't blink!
Might see you at the next NW meet hopefully - some cheap ferry crossings to be had I've heard.
Stu.

very clean car... Taurus rims on it too.... and that interiour is absolutely mint
Hmmm... no it's definately Storm Grey Metallic.
That 1.7(I'm assuming EP) engine is a really eager, revvy lump. Great about town and as the S is a fair bit lighter than most 480's, very nippy.... loads of fun and a great first time 480...

Thanks for the replies guys.
Stu, I'll definately look into any orangised weekend events. Was saying to Tony how I'd love to take a European trip someday but I guess it's not exactly a regular thing!!

Didn't check out the license plate, but you're right. You lucky bastards on the other side of the water, look at what we have to cope with:
SK-04-YZ! nothing fancy like l1 480S!
Have fun with your new 480...

The number was a sweet extra, I'm glad a few of you noticed.. I think most people are more interested in why I'm driving around with a Welsh logo on them though!
Kwik-Fit sorted me out with a new exhaust back-box today, good job, but this is the first time I’ve had to deal with typical repair costs for a bigger brand manufacture (especially compared to a little Mini) – I sure hope it doesn’t become a regular thing!!
piper1st, was planning on fitting a big truck horn, until I gave the standard horn a good blast - I think it'll do the job!
