The main replacement needs a little work but I am sure it will be fine.

The jet I have bought has a short stem so wont fit directly on to the car, however what I am going to do is use the remnant of the original and join the two.

It looks like this

It is neat enough as it is but if any one can take a few shots of the original I can shape it to look the part.

The washer jet looks like this

And your nut is most likely in the drain cavity (left arrow) unless it bounced off the fuel filler catch or reflector on the way down then it might be in with the lights (right arrow).

Like the front washer jet, hint on purchase from?

Landrover 90/110 models and some series Landrovers.

I have a early landrover bulkhead sitting in the garage and thought they look similar so pulled them off to see.

Part number PRC2437

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Se ... SweWVXejP3

There is another similar one I think which went on discovery but dont have the details to hand.

I have found over the years that landrover and original mini parts can be used on various applications.

Interesting! I just snapped one off when washing the car last and the other side can't be adjusted to hit the screen. The originals are turning to crumbly rubbish with time.

These also look like a substitute but I cant confirm the sizes. Brass may last longer.

Had a play with the front lights, they have been glued in the past and like many others I am on the look out for a good set but for now these with have to do.

I gave the units a spray with some silver as it had worn off and polished the lens up a bit. Not perfect but will get my by.

I am in need of a new relay and rather than rig one up I would like to get a pukka one.
Black V23134-K52-X249, PN 472210/01. Cant seem to see the other than a couple of second hand ones. I will give the local dealer a call for a laugh unless any one can suggest a good place to buy one.

You can get remanufactured glasses from Joep Vrijling in The Netherlands, about 75 euro for a set.
Only the headlight popup relay is unique, the rest is standard stuff. Every scrap Volvo will probably supply what you need.

Will put the lamps on the wish list for when I get the other jobs sorted out.

The supplier had a problem with the drivers side caliper so I have to send mine off, plenty of passenger sides available bit not the drivers front. odd.

Did some more research on the relay. The ones I have tend to be a type B layout, the volvo ones are type A layout but now I have worked that out I can source a new one. Not many scrappies about with older cars and it isnt really worth the time and fuel for just a relay.

I have the car back at my garage now so much easier to tackle the jobs I have to do, there are some priority jobs and some like to get to jobs.

This diagram is the five pin version showing the difference between the relay pins, but the 4 pins are the same without the centre pin (87a).

Just in case anyone stumbles across this post with the same issue the part numbers for the correct 4 pin relays are below.

Volvo: PN 472210/01
Pearl: PR06
Bosch: 0 332 019 451 / 0 332 014 406
BMW: 61311354393
Halfords: HEF555
siemens: V23134-K52-X249

Lights didnt come up too bad but there is a lot of old glue I couldnt get off so I think I will try and source a better set for when I get new lenses. I need to find the details but I remember a company who will re silver lamp units.

Slightly lost the saga with the relay...have you got one or are you still after one?

On those reference you give it's a 4-pin relay, and I have a few spares here - used, obviously, but if you still need one you can have one.

Sorted with relays, once I got the part numbers I ordered a couple of new ones.

I think it is always worth posting part numbers as it could help someone else. When I searched the forum I found some reference to the relays but no part numbers.

Spent the afternoon replacing a CV boot, which was an advisory on the MoT. I only do them once in a blue moon but really wish I had a fancy boot expander today. I wrestled with the cone and manage to split one of the boots after trying to get it on for about an hour.

spot on, the extra length of threaded plastic can be shortened in the lathe unlike the ones with the wing nuts . . ..

Further investigations on the speedo.

I pulled the dash out to check I had put the the cables back on correctly (I had done). Whilst I had the dash out again I took out the full beam bulb and painted it blue. I found that the blue was faded making the symbol appear white.

EDIT to post: I was testing the reverse lamp switch thinking it was the speedo sensor....deleted part of the post to avoid confusion.

I thought the speedo sensor was on the other side of the box at the top? Learn something new everyday!

This is a little spooky, I bought a speedo sensor for my brothers clio a couple of years ago when his speedo stopped working. It has been lying about ever since (his clio took speedo from the abs sensor and didnt have a speedo sensor, and his speedo stopped working when he fitted a stereo that had a feature linked to speed).

Image

I think the speedo sensor should look like this not sure if this one is the exact model. It has a 3 pin plug. Would be nice if it fits.
