I had this problem with mine. The fuel gauge was just badly calibrated, but it's easilly rectified.BlueCruiser wrote:While this is on discussion, may I just ask a couple of things which are also related to fuel economy and range...?
1. The very top bar of the fuel gauge (digital one) is always missing even it is fully tanked up..Is it normal? Or does my fuel gauge just missing out that green bar by faulty sensor / IC electrics...etc?
by the way mine is a 94 ES with a 60L tank, I presume...
Many thanks! (as you can tell, I'm very new..glad to have joined the club though, please bear my ignorance!
Next time you fill up, make sure you top it up all the way with every last drop you can. Then before starting the engine, take out the info centre control switch. If you are carful, you can take it apart (may not be necissary, but only way I could find to do it), you should see an extra blue knob in the middle. Hold down the reset key and turn the electrics on (no need to start car) and it should go into a sort of setup mode. Select the range option, and then move the blue knob until 60l is displayed on the screen. Put everything back together and restart the car, and hopefully it will work.
I also found because I was filling up earlier than required (although not with as much fuel) it seemed like I was getting about 50 miles less to a tank. I average 400 to a tank on it now, or upto 500 with good driving, although it's a 2.0 and I don't drive much over 70mph often, that said I do use the torque on offer quite a bit, so I'm really quite suprised with the fuel consumption. Also I only ever use Optimax fuel, it does (IMHO) make a difference.
