Soon to be 480 turbo owner

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Soon to be 480 turbo owner

Post by Talan » Sun Oct 09, 2011 3:25 pm

Hi all. I am a soon to be 480 turbo owner. Going to pick up a 1994 turbo this week to replace my current 986 boxster. I have finally realised the error of my ways and am buying a real car. Have wanted a 480 for years so very excited about getting it home. Will keep anyone who is interested updated about anything I'm doing to it. Tom

That makes sense. Stupid me I didn't understand he was going to trade in a Porsche Boxster for a real car.

Yes. Hadn't quite realised what I've been missing out on. Had the turbo for 5 days now. Absolutely loving it. Just got back from and afternoon in the peak district. Only thing that seems to be an issue at the minute is the inforcentre. Seems to flick between working. Lit up but no numbers and just random symbols, but from what I can gather that's pretty much common place rather than an actual issue. Just ordered a Haynes and having a look at the wiring diagrams to see where to start with sorting it. Any one know any good Volvo specialists in the Sheffield area?

That's perfectly normal, for a 480.

That will be the metal pins that connect the infocentre unit to the Instrument cluster PCB. They just need a clean.

Cheers. Is it difficult to get the dash / instrument cluster off to get to them?
