Euro-ish Look?

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

personally I'd rather that power be available at 2000-5000rpm rather than 7500rpm onwards.
A fair point but the thing with the vtec is the car will use next to no fuel if driven sensibly. However, if you redline each gear you stay in vtec so the fact that it is late in the rev range makes no difference. Once you are throuigh 1st gear you are away and looking at allot of other cars in your rear view :D :D :D :D

On a slightly different note, i just served a customer and they owed me £4.80 :D

Gave mine a "Dutch" USA-spec look:

Little USA-spec plate, orange DRL lights, orange lights and a kmh/mph speedo plate.
Its all about the orange lighting! JDM look :D

or possibly the french look with some yellow lights?!

For anyone interested in a bit of bling, have a look here.

There's a rather nice car under there; I drove one a few months ago.
Now, anyone for a chrome wrapped 480?

Yeah, and I forgot the red sidemarkers. I did some photoshop but the yellow french look isn't nice on Vase Green, beside that it's very hard to get a pair of yellow lights!

the saab wheels wont fit guys.sorry wrong pcd.theyre 108. the best way to use em is get a gorgeous 900 turbo. i agree with excess reving.its the best way to kill an engine early. 480 will do 37-40 mpg general running about if your sensible.for peoples spectulating about wheel fittings look here
http://www.carlsalter.com/old_wheel_fitments.html
its also important to get the offset in range as well. a lot of people arent interested in this and although theyl fit it will screw up your handling and steering feel.also just spacing them for the wide look can wreck the feel.spacers are ment to bring wheels with less offset back into the original range.i drove a car years ago my mate had put spacers on and the steering was terrible, on some roads with lorry grooves or humped middle it tried to pull the steering wheel out of my hands.

Euro look=shite!
Lowered slightly with nice wheels and no other mods looks perfect in my eyes. Styling is such that it doenst really need any changes to stand out and sticking things on it looks tacky!
All my personal opinion!

I think murf's car is spot on. I'd choose white five spokes (Comp Mos) or something but I like them too. Colour is ace too.

Murfs car is a nice clean example but i prefer flatter old skool wheels. I would also like mine to sit a bit lower.

What i intend to do is really nothing more than lowering and painting my wheels!

The way ive been rinsed by the majority of the purists you would think i intended to get some lexus lights and crome 20"s!

I think he is referring to the SIR spec Civics, and of course the VTIs. Both of which have the almighty 1.6 engine which develops a staggering 170 horsepower as standard.

Hate the styling? Thats by the by, you simply can't argue with those figures. Not to mention the handling and build quality. That said, I do enjoy 480 ownership which is why I have had 3 of them.
Well I must say this, who cares how much hp it makes. let it be 170hp, but look @ the torque number. The magic number that gives you acceleration and drivability. You are not running your car @ max speed all day long that you need hp.

ye it is cool, would look sick with a set of flat black wheels though i think... something porsche esque would suit the early 90s styling. Agree on the colour, due to the styling and age of the 480 i think colours like the dark and light green look good

Ye! Needs some flat dishes I reckon.

At the end of the day, and lets not beat around the bush now -

Volvo 480s look like spaceships.

Why don't you all just embrace it?

I mean, I bought one cos it was a cheap shitter. I knew from the offset that it was lacking the build quality I am used to, having owned various Porsches, BMWs, Mercedes etc. I knew it would break down, lack performance, leak, have loads of electrical problems and probably cause me grief. But it had a turbo. And an Info Centre. And pop up headlights. And a glass hatch. But the main reason was because it looked like a spaceship. And I fully intend to make it look even more like a spaceship than it currently does.

They are indeed superleggera's.
Be carefull what wheels you choose, my car was running 205/45-16's and it was lowered 30mm and the wheels rubbed on the rear arches if you put someone in the back or something moderately heavy in the boot.
Sadly and stupidly i'm no longer the owner of that particular car, foolish me for selling it
They are my favourite wheels incidentally and the pcd/offset was perfect to fit my MR2 so they live on.....
