Silly car :-)
Yesterday at the parking area outside a supermarket in freezzzzzing conditions I wanted to put my groceries in the car... I had already had problems opening the door (frozen lock) but a small bottle with de-iceing fluid took care of that (did see some broken of carkeys lying around too!!!).

Anyway, I managed to open the trunk with the key and when I opened the trunk: HOOOOOONNNNNKKKKK, yep, the alarm went off... Good to know you disarm it by using the key in the driver-side doorlock. Does feel pretty embarrassing when this happens, never had this problem before. The red LED on the dash kept burning without flashing untill I put the car on ignition too. Seems everything is OK now, but the alarm also is affected by cold...
Cya,

Daniël Wilten
Volvo 480 ES Dark Green Metallic, 1996
Volvo 480 ES Graphite Grey Metallic, 1987

Mine does this now. (I'm sure it didn't used to). I don't really mind but l keep getting visions of a crumbling CEM starting to give me loads of problems in the near future.

Re: Silly car :-)
People keep saying about an LED on the dash to show the alarm is active, but I don't seem to have one.

I have a '90 ES and definately have an alarm (my girlfriend discovered it!) but have never seen an LED, can someone tell me where it is on the dash or if they were fitted on this car?

Cheers

Re: Silly car :-)
Don't know from when they started fitting these LED's, my 1987 ES hasn't got one either. It is located totally at the top of the dash, above the knob to activate the blower. It is mounted in a little piece of rectangular plastic, see: <a href="http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/images/ ... .

Here it is visible as the rectangular piece of plastic that has taken loose of the dash in the topright corner of the picture. The LED is located in this piece.
Cya,

Daniël Wilten
Volvo 480 ES Dark Green Metallic, 1996
Volvo 480 ES Graphite Grey Metallic, 1987

Re: Silly car :-)
Thanks Daniël

I can conclude from that that they didn't fit one on my car. Still, I've got enough flashing lights on my dash - I won't miss one LED <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
