For 480 Radio Wirerz everywhere...

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

In car-hifishops you can get a "Volvo- to ISO-connector". That's all you need <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Grtz, Bastiaan (Volvo 480 2.0i Collection #372/480)

Home of Volvo 480 Europe

Not all shops sell them, sadly... So if you have to make one yourself:

----- -----|X * X| |1 * 2||X X X| |3 4 5||X X X| |6 7 8| ----- -----
(where * marks the spot of the dummy pin)
(this image displays the connector in the car when looking at it from the front)

1 = electr. antenna
2 = earth
3 = 12V switched (ignition on)
4 = positive (+) right front speaker
5 = negative (-) right front speaker
6 = 12V permanent
7 = positive (+) left front speaker
8 = negative (-) left front speaker

Good luck! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Cya,

Daniël Wilten
Volvo 480 ES Dark Green Metallic, 1996
Volvo 480 ES Graphite Grey Metallic, 1987

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub32.ezboard.com/bvolvo480.show ... ote1980 at: 11/5/02 9:07:08 pm

radio wires

Post by Dog egg » Wed Dec 18, 2002 12:54 am

Ahh, but mine had a wire (blue/red methinks) which was allegedely for the 'lights' connection on my Kenwood MAsk Cd thingy. Trouble is when I turn the lights on it hiccups the mask (trys to turn it off for a second, thus closing the face and lowering the arial briefly) before recovering as normal, and can be run after the ignition is off if the lights are up. I think I'll disconnect the bloody thing.....

At least I experience the following: when having the radio turned on and starting the car, the radio stops for a brief moment and continues afterwards. I think this is to free up resources for the starter-motor...
Cya,

Daniël Wilten
Volvo 480 ES Dark Green Metallic, 1996
Volvo 480 ES Graphite Grey Metallic, 1987
