480 celebration (like neo) the one!!! #001/480

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

is it possible that the tailgate was like that from the prod line?? with it being firts off the line could they have used one from another car?? is there any pics of other celebs numbers 2-10? are there tailgates like mine?? i have had a look around the tailgate and cannot see any marks on bolt heads or movement marks on the body of the car.
in my opinion i don't think it has been changed!

It bolts on behind the headlining. I swapped my tailgate for one with blacker plastic parts/better nick wiring loom/original badging....and believe me you can't tell its been changed. Is your car's glass security etched?
- My Turbo is.. - it'd be easy to see if it is etched, as the etching will be not present on the tailgate.

Know what you mean, when ever I tried to take a pic it would come out to dark to see and if I used the flash it would bounce back of the plaque

Looks quite interesting to me.
The fact that the steering wheel is on the wrong side wouldn't bother me here on the continent but I still haven't seen a price or a region in which one has to make his offer.
If I were to buy it I would store it along side the other niceties I've got.
Knows that tidal pools are standard with every 480 you buy, as are skating rings in winter.

just to update you guys on what is going on and why it is taking so long,
i am currently waiting on the log book coming back from the dvla, i think this maybe due to the circumstances in which i have aquired it. not the best situation i know. but, thats life!

hopefully will be for sale within a month, i have had lots of interest from you chaps and 1 other friend of mine.

i am thinking the only fair way to sell the car to keep everyone happy is too put it on ebay or similar aucton site and notify you all of its auction,

what do you chaps think?

If you have had loads of people asking for a price then I think it is a good idea to put it on eBay and let them bid it out, with a reasonable starting price given its condition :)

that is the only stumbling block, the condition of the car, although it is all minor paint and 1 wing, it was decided to keep it original! if you can see the logic? thinking about it now i wish i had had the work done!!

It might require 'minor work', but just because it's an older car, doesn't make the repairs any cheaper, just harder to justify the expense compared to the value.

It's a tricky one to judge that's for sure. Bit like the 'Dealer v's DIY service history', it might make the car more appealing, but is it worth the extra cost against the slight increased resale value? Probably snot. :dunno:

Good luck with it anyway. :D

my only aprehension about doing the repairs was that the car would not be "original" the car being what it is, i thought that best to keep it that way, and let prosective buyers make up there own mind what to do with it!

On a rare car like this, you are more likley to make back any investment sorting things that are wrong with the car than usual. In fact it could be the difference between an average price, and an above average price, give it's not every day you see #1. I would repair anything wrong with it before sale so long as it was not silly money to do so. With a car like this selling it in A1 condition should net you a mint!

Agree with MGB_GT on this, a car this special should be brought to mint condition and only then be sold. There are plenty of nutters out there waiting for something special as this, but repairing anything wrong with her first avoids the chance of someone not giving a **** trying to get hold of her!

Update guys.....

The car will be ready forsale from this weekend. Please either get PM's to me with an offer what you think the car will be worth to buy now, other than that it will be going on ebay very shortly.

The paint missing on the front bumper and little touch ups have been repaired to a very high standard and is now looking amazing.

New pics will be added shortly. Look through the old pics then minus the paint missing etc.

This is your chance to own a very rare 480 celebration with very low mileage and known history from new.
